Our Safety Mission

Safety is the core purpose of the OTT Delineator and Signage System. The system was developed to reduce risk on mining haul roads, with a particular focus on night operations, fatigue management and poor visibility—areas that are critical to safety but often overlooked.

Traditional delineators and signage have seen little innovation for decades. This gap was highlighted by a fatal incident in 2013 at an open-cut mine near Singleton, NSW, where a light vehicle was struck by a haul truck. Investigators found that the signage at the scene did not meet best practice standards (NSW DTIRIS, 2015). The OTT system was created to help prevent tragedies like this from occurring again.

OTT Industries completely rethought the way mine delineation and signage systems are designed and installed. The result is a robust, simple and durable solution that performs in harsh weather conditions, reduces replacement costs and improves safety outcomes. All products are manufactured in Queensland and engineered for real mine site conditions, where downtime, investigations and damaged equipment carry significant costs.

Worker health and safety is the guiding principle behind the OTT system. Our designs align with Recognised Standard 19 – Design and Construction of Mine Roads (August 2019; Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999), as well as Australian Standards AS1742 and AS1743. Each system is customised to meet site-specific Traffic Management Plan (TMP) requirements.

Fallen or rotated delineators and signs are common on mine haul roads, particularly after weather events, and present a serious High Potential Incident (HPI) risk. OTT Industries addressed this issue by developing an improved product design and installation method that significantly reduces the likelihood of collapse, rotation or failure.
